Michael Strong Black and White Blog Hop journaling page

Michael Strong Black and White Blog Hop journaling page

Welcome to the Michael Strong Black and White Blog Hop!

I hope you have arrived here from Lola Radnoti's blog: http://raevon59.wordpress.com/

My project is a double spread journaling page, in a regular sized notebook (A5).

For the background, I used a collage of randomly torn pages from a Mythology book which I saved from being thrown away – I upcycled it for a good purpose.

I also used a photo from the same book, showing a figure which seems to say "It'll be OK", very confidently.

I used Mike's Whimsical Owl stamp, heat embossed with an extra sparkly and shiny black EP, hand cut with scissors.

Here's a link to Michael Strong’s catalogue, where you can see all the wonderful stamps (and more) Mike has:
http://www.strongstamps.com/catalog-rubber-stamps-supplies/index.htm

The Washi Tape at the bottom of the page is actually a rather wide fabric tape.
It's directing the way to a one-way-ticket destination, leading to a positive and optimistic ending of the road, which goes along with the Sentiment.
The hand-written Sentiment is a very optimistic one.

The next blog you should hop to is Rosie Guiher's blog:

Please notice: if leave a comment in Mike’s blog, you may be lucky and win some blog candy stamps.

I missed blogging, and I'm glad to be back.

Not All Who Wander Are Lost.

I made 10 pages for an Art Journal Prompts Swap at AllThingsTim Yahoo Group
Here's one of my pages:

Supplies used:

White Cs
Tim Holtz embossing folders - Retro
Andy Skinner mask by Tando - Children
Inksssentials ink blending tool
Ranger Distress Ink - faded jeans
Tim Holtz stamps - Ultimate Grunge: crackle, bubble wrap, numerals
Tim Holtz stamps - Lost and found: the sentiment "Not All Who Wander Are Lost."
VersaFine ink - Onyx Black, Crimson Red
Ranger Distress Re-inkers - fired brick, pine needle
70% Alcohol in misters
Tattered Angels - Glimmer Mist - Cosmos
Tattered Angels - Glimmer Mist Chalkboard - Grape Ape
Dylusions ink spray - Lemon Zest
White Gel pen

I embossed the white CS with Tim Holtz embossing folders - Retro (2 of them), to give the paper some extra dimension.

I used Andy Skinner mask - Children, inked it and then sprayed all over it, using various colors and glimmer mists.

I stamped several images occasionally.

Then I highlighted the children and the sentiment with a white gel pen.

Baby Girl Mini Album

I made this mini album for my friend M. and left room so she can fit photos of her cute daughter into it.
This mini album is very sweet and girly, therefore it's very different from what I usually design.
Keeping in mind that it's meant for a cute 2 years old girl, I used K & Company's Sparkly Sweet 6x6 paper pad, distressing all the pages with happy, girly colored ink.
The embellishments are in similar colors.
I used Michael Strong's Cloisonné stamps (quite a few of them) with and without EP.
I added pearls and blings wherever possible (not too many, I hope…)
I used shaped buttons, thick felt shapes, paper die cuts, and silk flowers attached with brads and glued 3D.
Between the pages I left room for journaling, on thinner album pages with white papers decorated with border punches and distress ink.
The album pages were attached together with metal binding rings, decorated with ribbons.
On the front cover there's a pink metal gecko for good luck, hanging on the top binding ring.
I added a photo of the front cover in daylight (with a few more ribbons...) so you can see the colors more clearly.
Happy birthday, dear M.
I hope you'll like it… and what's coming with it. Stay tuned…
