Spring is the time of plans and projects ATB

For a very long period of time I've been engaged with family duties, unfortunately very unhappy ones.
During this time I rarely created anything, and as much as I wanted to, I couldn't find peace of mind and passion to create. My blog has also been neglected.
Now I got my MOJO back, and it feels so good!!!

I needed to share it with you. I still have several former unpublished creations to share with you, and I also plan a little Giveaway soon. Stay tuned!

But for now here's my entry to the enjoyMichaelStrongstamps Yahoo Group Spring challenge - a Spring ATB.

I made the 3D cube myself, out of sturdy CS, and it was such fun that I guess I'll make more ATBs in the near future.

Materials used:
Sturdy 12x12 Polka Dot CS by Netanella – Hot Air Ballons  collection
Scor-Pal
Red, light blue and black leather textured CS
Cream paper
Michael Strong Honeycomb stencil
Michael Strong Stamps: Cloisonné Butterfly (small and large), Cloisonné Flower (small)
Michael Strong Metal Die Cutters: Butterfly (small and large), Flower (small)
Ranger Distress Ink - Fired Brick
Ranger Ink Blending Tool
VersaFine Ink - Onyx Black
White and light blue EP
Polka Dot Paper Tape in 3 color patterns
Turquoise and gold Gel pens
Black pen
Jewel brads
Clear blings

Double sided clear and foam tape

First I cut the 12x12 CS for the 3D cube, which turned out about 3.8x3.8 inches (9.5x9.5 cms), and left margins to glue the parts together. Please let me know if you're interested in a step-by-step tutorial.

I added Polka Dot Paper Tape in 3 color patterns all around the cube's connections of faces, both for decoration and to strengthen them.

Then I randomly decorated 5 faces of the 3D cube, using Michael Strong Honeycomb stencil, Ranger Distress Ink - Fired Brick, and Ranger Ink Blending Tool.
I stamped and cut the large Butterfly, and added clear blings to make it glamorous.
I stamped and cut the small Butterflies, and colored them using Gel Pens.

I stamped and cut the small Flowers and heat embossed them, then I added Jewel brads to their centers.

I glued all the images, using double sided clear and foam tape.

The large Butterfly, on the top of the cube, was glued only at its center, its wings flying in the air.

I added the sentiment, hand written with a black pen, on 4 faces of the cube.
I really enjoyed making this ATB, and it felt like spring is in the air (though it feels like summer in Israel).

I'm so glad I got creative again, and I hope this passion will last and grow.

Cranes In Flight Explosion Card

Here's a card I created for the Michael Strong's Yahoo group June-July 2013 challenge - an explosion card with Cranes in flight.
This is a pop-up card, which I decorated both inside and outside.

From the outside the card seems subtle, yet rich in details: the embossed cranes in 2 sizes, the background papers, the faux stitches and the colorful blings in various sizes.
But the inside reveals a whole bunch of cranes in white and turquoise - all embossed in gold - bursting in flight.
I like the movement effect of this card.
I left some space at the card's lower front part to write a message.

Supplies used:
White CS for the card's basis and for the Cranes
Turquoise CS for the card's background and for the Cranes
Patterned background paper (in and out) - Prima - Nature Garden Collection (A4)
Embossing Ink
Gold EP
Blings in various sizes and colors
White Gel pen
Double sided foam tape

I layered the background papers.
You can see that inside the card, the patterned paper was cut to create a shelf, onto which the Cranes were adhered.
All the Cranes - 10 of them! - were stamped on white and turquoise CS, heat embossed with gold EP and cut with scissors.
On the outside, the Cranes were glued 3D for extra dimension.
In the inside, they were glued onto the background, on the shelf and to each other, to create a sense of motion and flight.
I used the white Gel pen to frame the patterned paper, both inside and outside the card, with faux stitches.
I left some space at the lower part of the card to add a sentiment or greeting.
I added blings in various sizes and colors, to add some glam.
I also added tiny clear blings for the Cranes eyes (outside).

You can see in each photo a different angle of the card, so you can see how the cranes are attached to it.
Can you imagine them flying?

Love Is In The Air CD

Here's the 2nd card I made for this week as Card Captain of the enjoyMichaelStrongstamps Yahoo Group.
It's actually my entry to this month's challenge.

Supplies used:
Clear CD
Glimmer Mist - Riptide, Pinecone
Heat gun
ProMarkers - Poppy
Michael Strong's Cloisonné Heart stamp (large)
Michael Strong's Punch & Spell Alphabet Stamp Set
White CS
Embossing ink
Gold EP
Oval Large Nesting Paper Punch 1.5 x 0.75 inch by EK Success
Clear and red blings

First I sprayed Glimmer Mist - Riptide and Pinecone - on a transparent CD, and dried it using a heat gun.
When heated, the 2 colors of the Glimmer Mist mix and react to create new color combinations.
Unlike the outcome achieved when using Alcohol Inks, here I achieved a colorful, pearly look without losing the transparency effect.
Surprisingly, the CD won't bend even when it's very close to the heat gun.
Then I used Michael Strong's Cloisonné Heart stamp, I heat embossed it with gold EP on white CS.
I did the same with the letters L O V E using Michael Strong's Punch & Spell Alphabet Stamp Set.
Both the heart and the letters were decorated with a red ProMarker and then glued to the CD.
I added red and clear blings all over for extra glam.

Can you feel that Love Is In The Air?

Love Is In The Air

Here is my 1st card for this week as Card Captain of the enjoyMichaelStrongstamps Yahoo Group.
The theme is Love Is In The Air.
I created this card for my DH, my true Valentine and the love of my life.
This card is especially suitable for a man, because of its elegant and calm color combo along with the straight and diagonal lines.

Supplies used:
Black leather textured CS for the card's basis

Shiny gold paper

Basic Grey patterned paper - Origins
Recycled white CS
EK Success Plaid edger punch
Michael Strong's Cloisonné Cranes Stamp Set (small and large)
Embossing ink
Green EP - Ranger's Evergreen
Clear blings in various sizes

Double sided foam tape

I punched the shiny gold paper using my new EK Success Plaid edger punch (I love it!)
I layered the papers straight and diagonally to create some contrast.
Both cranes were stamped, heat embossed with green EP and glued 3D for extra dimension.

Then I added several blings for extra glam (men like it too, I hope… lol)

Japanese Thank You Card

Here's a card I created for the Michael Strong's Yahoo group November challenge - an oblong Thank You card.

Supplies used:
Red leather textured CS for the card's basis

Japanese patterned paper
Cream CS

Pergamano Parchment (Vellum) paper
Michael's Strong's Cloisonné Dragonfly stamp (large)

Embossing ink

Hematite EP

Martha Stewart Edge Punch - Hydrangeas
Brown ink
Gold rub-on

Clear round blings and dark red square blings

I wanted to give this card a classical look, so I used a calm color combo, and made the dragonfly fly by lifting its wings in the air.
The only thing which keeps it from flying away is the weight of the blings on its wings… very light, very transparent.

Take a look at the Dragonfly's close-up.
Can you actually see the Dragonfly in flight?

Pink Pearls From The Ocean Card

I'm Card Captain of the enjoyMichaelStrongstamps Yahoo Group for this week, so for 5 days I'll be showing you several works using Michael Strong's stamps. I hope you'll find them inspiring.
My 1st card for this week is a Seashell card in ice cream colors (yummy!) and it is also my entry to October's pink challenge.

Ingredients:
Cream leather textured CS for the card's basis
Patterned background paper (from my stash) in pink and white
Light cream CS
Gold paper
Kraft CS
Swirl Edger Punch by EK Success
Michael Strong's Cloisonné Shell Stamp (large)
Embossing ink
Gold EP
ProMarkers - Vanilla, Cocoa and Pastel Pink
Pink half pearls
3D double sided foam tape

The main motif in this card is the Seashell, found in the ocean and related to pearls.
I used the Swirl Edger Punch by EK Success to create scraps with edges resembling waves, and stacked them on the patterned background paper.
I stamped Michael Strong's Cloisonné Seashell on a very thick white CS (used for watercolor painting), heat embossed it with gold EP and cut it out using TH scissors.

Then I colored it using ProMarkers - Vanilla, Cocoa and Pastel Pink.
The Seashell was glued 3D with foam tape for extra dimension.
I added several pink half pearls for extra glam.
Talking about pink…

Here's what my youngest son brought me when he came home from school.
The pink ribbon is so symbolic for this month that I had to take a photo of the Cyclamens before and after I opened my gift.

Beach Party Card

I made this card for the Michael Strong Yahoo group July Challenge.
It's a pocket card with a tag. I left some space on the tag to write a greeting.
The fish look like they're actually swimming in the water!
It's a fun card and if you're inspired to make one yourself, here's the tutorial

Supplies used:
Turquoise canvas textured CS
Cream canvas textured CS
Michael Strong Mini Cloisonné Creatures - Fish, Seastar, Shell
VersaFine ink pad - Onyx Black
Ziplock bag
Hair gel
Orange organza ribbon
Scor-Pal
EK Success Corner Adorner

Birds Flight Card

I made this card for the Michael Strong's Yahoo group June Card challenge - For The Birds.
My son has just finished the first stage of his basic military training.
This card was made for him. I chose masculine colors and I wish him to Fly High.
Every month there's a sketch challenge at the Michael Strong's Yahoo group and this is the sketch for June and July.

I never use sketches but this sketch caught my eye.

Ingredients:
Blue leather textured CS for the card's basis
Recycled CS from a magazine
Basic Grey patterned paper - Pheobe
Michael Strong's Mini Cloisonné Wings stamp set - Hummingbird (small)
Vintage velvet and woven ribbon in shades of brown
Embossing ink
Brown ink
Black EP
Golden green half pearls in 4 sizes
Double sided foam tape
EK Success Corner Adorner

I used Michael Strong's Cloisonné Hummingbird (small) from the Mini Cloisonné Wings stamp set.
I stamped it on a recycled CS from a magazine and heat embossed it with black EP.
Then I cut the mini Hummingbirds using TH scissors.
I distressed the patterned paper pieces with brown ink to give it contrasting edges.
I glued the patterned paper and the mini Hummingbirds 3D, using double sided foam tape, for extra dimension.
The sentiment "Fly High" was printed on the Basic Grey patterned paper.
I added Golden green half pearls in 4 sizes for extra glam.

Israeli Pioneers

This work was created for the next outdoor exhibition in Ramat Hasharon.
There's an outdoor gallery in Ramat Hasharon, with a new exhibition every couple of months.
A few dozen artists from Ramat Hasharon will participate in this outdoor exhibition. The subject is Following The Pioneers and my work is called Israeli Pioneers (or, in Hebrew, אנו באנו ארצה).

It's a mixed media collage on canvas.
I created this collage out of recycled geographic maps of Israel, all torn to pieces by hand.
I re-assembled the torn pieces into an imaginary map of my country.
The people representing the Israeli Pioneers were printed on a background made of the map, then cut using scissors and glued 3D for extra dimension.

In the middle of the work there's an urban center, which includes Ramat Hasharon itself.
As an homage to my 2 sons who are IDF soldiers, I included their military bases locations (which are confidential, of course).

The exhibition's opening will take place on Israel's Independence Day, May 10th 2011.

Michael Strong 15 Challenge Card & a Giveaway Alert

Here is my card for the 15 challenge at enjoyMichaelStrongstamps Yahoo Group
The challenge requires to create a card with exactly 15 elements - no more, no less - and to use any Michael Strong's stamp (the card's basis doesn't count as one of the 15 elements).
When I read the challenge's requirements, the idea popped into my head right away.
I just love Michael Strong's stamps, as you could have noticed.
And what's the symbol of love? A heart, of course.
So I created the main motif - a heart made of flowers.
There are 14 flowers, and the heart itself is the 15th element.
It may seem very simple but it required some work.
I like its minimalist, clean look, as it enables to focus on the main motif.
Don't forget, sometimes less is more…

Ingredients:
Light blue leather textured CS for the card's basis
Red leather textured CS
Michael Strong's Cloisonné Flower Stamp (small)
Stazon ink - Black
Double sided foam tape

The heart
I stamped Michael Strong's Cloisonné Flower on red leather textured CS with black Stazon ink, 14 times.
I cut out 14 identical flowers, using TH scissors.
I arranged the flowers in a heart shape, and glued them one by one directly onto the card's basis.
I glued them 3D, using double sided foam tape, for extra dimension.

Tomorrow, April 1st, is my birthday, so I'm having a little Giveaway for my readers. Stay tuned…

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed.

Spring Tag

I made this Spring Tag for the ISBF Spring Challenge in ATT.
For the background paper I used a recycled photo from a magazine.
I distressed and colored it with Ranger's Distress ink. I used Dusty Concorde, Broken China and Pine needle, spreading the ink with sponge daubers (oh, they're fun to work with!)
I stamped Tim's bird on white CS and cut it carefully, then glazed it with Glossy Accents and distressed it a little with Dusty Concorde Distress ink.
I added a tiny aqua bling for the bird's eye.
I used Tim's Elegant Flourishes die cut, from thin kraft chipboard, which was also covered with Glossy Accents for extra glazing.
The 3D flowers were made out of Polymer clay by a friend, and I added tiny blings to accent their centers.
I also added a bling flower.
I attached fluffy fibers in several colors to the tag, to give it a bit of a wild look.

Seashell Card

I'm Card Captain of the enjoyMichaelStrongstamps Yahoo Group for this week, so for 5 days I'll be showing you several works using Michael Strong's stamps. I hope you'll find them inspiring.

Today's card #3 is a summertime Seashell card, reminding me of the beach.
Actually, yesterday it was 23 degrees celsius in Israel… no wonder it felt like summer.

Ingredients:
White CS for the card's basis
Dark blue vellum paper for the background
Seaside patterned paper from my stash
Dark blue vellum, yellow and beige CS
Michael Strong's Cloisonné Shell Stamp (large)
Gold EP
ProMarkers
Morocco Lace Edger Punch by EK Success
Bright blue, light blue and light green blings in various sizes
Royal blue ric rac ribbon

The shell
I stamped Michael Strong's Cloisonné Shell on white CS, heat embossed it with gold EP and cut it out using TH scissors.
Then I colored it with ProMarkers. I used Shale, Gold, Royal Blue and Cocoa.
The shell was glued 3D with foam tape for extra dimension.
I punched scraps of dark blue vellum, yellow and beige CS using the Morocco Lace Edger Punch, and layered them one on top of the other gradually, to resemble the sea waves.
I added the royal blue ric rac ribbon to tie the 3 scraps together.
I also added a few bright blue, light blue and light green blings in various sizes here and there, for some glam.
