Vintage Elephant Noel Card

I'm Card Captain of the enjoyMichaelStrongstamps Yahoo Group for this week, so for 5 days I'll be showing you several works using Michael Strong's stamps. I hope you'll find them inspiring.

My 3rd card for this week is a Vintage Elephant Noel Card.

It's a Vintage style Noel (Christmas) card in non-traditional colors, and I assume that the Elephant carrying the holiday's gifts isn't the traditional Santa's sleigh either (lol).

I used a Kraft card basis, and contrasting shades of brown with strong turquoise for a non-traditional, and therefore more special color combo.
The Noel sentiment was made of wood and colored on mat gold, enhanced by a dark brown framing paper and a turquoise bling.

The patterned background paper is in shabby chic style, complementing the other elements.
It was inked all around, to give it a distinct, eye-catching frame.

I stamped it on a contrasting turquoise CS using VersaFine Ink - Black Onyx, and cut it with scissors, then added a tiny bling to enhance the eye.
The Noel sentiment, as well as the Elephant, were glued 3D for extra dimension – you can see how it actually adds volume to the card.
Several blings were added for extra glam.

Love Is In The Air CD

Here's the 2nd card I made for this week as Card Captain of the enjoyMichaelStrongstamps Yahoo Group.
It's actually my entry to this month's challenge.

Supplies used:
Clear CD
Glimmer Mist - Riptide, Pinecone
Heat gun
ProMarkers - Poppy
Michael Strong's Cloisonné Heart stamp (large)
Michael Strong's Punch & Spell Alphabet Stamp Set
White CS
Embossing ink
Gold EP
Oval Large Nesting Paper Punch 1.5 x 0.75 inch by EK Success
Clear and red blings

First I sprayed Glimmer Mist - Riptide and Pinecone - on a transparent CD, and dried it using a heat gun.
When heated, the 2 colors of the Glimmer Mist mix and react to create new color combinations.
Unlike the outcome achieved when using Alcohol Inks, here I achieved a colorful, pearly look without losing the transparency effect.
Surprisingly, the CD won't bend even when it's very close to the heat gun.
Then I used Michael Strong's Cloisonné Heart stamp, I heat embossed it with gold EP on white CS.
I did the same with the letters L O V E using Michael Strong's Punch & Spell Alphabet Stamp Set.
Both the heart and the letters were decorated with a red ProMarker and then glued to the CD.
I added red and clear blings all over for extra glam.

Can you feel that Love Is In The Air?

Michael Strong's Cloisonné Cranes Stamp Set (small and large)

Card of the day #4 - Happy New Year Card

I'm Card Captain at Michael Strong's Yahoo group this week.I'll upload a new card every day, and my 4th card for this week is a Happy New Year card.
Today is Technique Thursday, when I'm sharing a technique with you.
After I stamped, heat embossed and cut with nail scissors DOZENS of Christmas trees, in various EP colors and on several colors of CS, I thought I might as well use them to create a special card which fits the occasion.
It's a luxurious card, very rich and colorful.
It's a pop-up card. Its outer side seems clean and simple, showing one large Christmas tree with a few blings on it, and the colors are elegant yet calm.
But once you open the card, there's a celebration of colors inside.
It may seem like a lot of work… well, it is!
But the technique isn't complicated and you can try it with any stamp you have.

For the card's front I used:
White canvas textured CS on heavy white CS for the card's basis
Michael Strong's Cloisonné Christmas Tree stamp (large), stamped on silver CS and heat embossed with black EP, cut with nail scissors and glued 3D for extra dimension
Clear, green and red blings

For the card's inner part I used:
White canvas textured CS
Dark grey, red and grass green leather textured CS
Black and forest green canvas textured CS
Blue CS
Michael Strong's Cloisonné Christmas Tree stamp (small), stamped on these pieces of CS and heat embossed with silver, black, white and gold EP
All the trees were cut with nail scissors and then carefully glued in layers to create the card's depth
Clear, green and red blings
Shiny gold paper and white canvas textured CS
The sentiment Happy New Year was written with a gold gel pen in a special font called Dorly's hand writing :-)

Take a closer look at the side view of the card, from both sides.
And believe me - you really should enlarge these photos!

The tutorial was taken from my Israeli friend Shira and here's the tutorial.
I wish you all a very Happy New Year!

We don't celebrate Christmas in Israel.
Actually, until yesterday the weather here was so warm and sunny (even in December!) and now it's getting rainy so we're wearing more than a T-shirt…
All of you who have snow piling up your doorway - don't be jealous.
At least you have enough water in your country, and you can enjoy the lovely sight of snow, so white and elegant (unless you're stuck in traffic… lol)
I made quite a few Christmas cards for family members and friends who celebrate it.
You can see several of them in my former posts, and I promise to show a few new ones in the following posts.

This is my Christmas Card #7, with a large Christmas snowy tree and a special motif of interlacing ribbon.
Ingredients:
This card has a white CS as its basis.
The next layer is a green canvas textured CS, its edges distressed for a Shabby Chic look.
Then there's a shiny gold paper, and a piece of patterned paper (from my stash) in shades of gold and green.
There are 2 main motifs on this card - the snowy tree and the interlacing ribbon piece.

For the interlacing ribbon piece I used black canvas textured CS.
Both its edges were punched with EK Success Binding Edge Edger Punch.
Then I used a narrow green satin ribbon, interlacing it from one side to the other all the way down, and simply tying its ends.

For the snowy tree I used Michael Strong's Cloisonné Christmas Tree stamp (large).
I stamped it on black canvas textured CS, then I heat embossed it with white EP, cut it with nail scissors and glued it 3D for extra dimension.
I also added clear, green and red blings, to add some Christmas glam.
Take a closer look at the side view of the card, to see how attaching these 2 motifs with 3D foam tape creates nice shadows on the card's background.

She Sells Sea Shells By The Sea Shore

I made this card for the Michael Strong's Yahoo group September challenge - Traditional Cloisonné Card.
I used gold canvas textured CS for the background, distressed all around its edges.
On top of it there's a cream CS, embossed with tiny bubbles through the Cuttlebug and colored with Ranger's distress ink (Broken China).
The turquoise CS was punched with Martha Stewart's border punch.
The main motif is Michael Strong's Cloisonné Shell, stamped and heat embossed with gold EP.
I colored the shell with Ranger's distress inks (Broken China, Vintage Photo and Scattered Straw), using ear cleaning sticks for coloring.
The shell was glued 3D for extra dimension.
I added a few turquoise blings in varios sizes, all reminding me of the sea.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed. Have a creative day! Dorly

I'm In Glove

I made this card for the Michael Strong's Yahoo group August challenge, based on Mike's project: Faux Tie Dyed Backgrounds.
So I put my gloves on and I started playing with dye inkpads and baby wipes, in order to create hand-made special backgrounds.
The background is so dominant and special - I made a few of them and there are no two alike - that I needed only a few embellishments to complete my card. I matted it with gold paper to emphasize it.
I decorated my card with Michael Strong's Cloisonné Gecko stamp, stamped with metal Brilliance ink on black textured CS, which was also matted with gold paper (same as the card's background).
The Gecko was glued 3D for extra dimension.
I added a black pompon ribbon from my stash and metallic gold Dew Drops, and 2 black corners. It's a fun technique for creating special backgrounds, and I intend to use it again… stay tuned.
Photo of the day - my white Orchid in full bloom
