Tim Holtz Collage Tags

I made these Tim Holtz Collage tags for a swap which took place at the commune "Follow Your Art" (in Israel).
I entered the swap twice, therefore I made 8 tags.

I started with a cream CS, randomly stamping it with several TH stamps in various ink colors to create a collage background paper.

I cut the CS into eight pieces, all equal in size and shape but looking very different from each other.
On each tag there's one TH stamp, stamped separately on cream or white CS and carefully cut with TH scissors.
I covered each shape of a man, car, clock and vintage man-on-bicycle (the last one was taken from a magazine) with Diamond Glaze to give it a shiny glazing.
I crumpled the shapes in various directions in order to get the creases which look like cracked glass.

I re-used Coca Cola bottle caps, flattened with a hammer (it was rather noisy but worth the effort) as embellishments.
I punched circles out of the same collage background paper I made, covered them with Diamond Glaze to give them a shiny glazing and adhered them to the bottle caps.

I glued them to the tags using a 3D foam tape for extra dimension.
I chopped the tags' corners with TH scissors, punched holes with the Crop-A-Dile and added colorful fibers from my stash.

I added thin kraft recycled chipboard at the back of each tag to make it sturdier.

On each tag's back side I added a stamped TH sentence, and then added my personal details for the swap.
And here are all my eight tags:

  4. These are fabulous Dory! I will have to try your technique of a background collage paper for the tag base. I love your selection of colors and images and the coke caps are brilliant. I'm sure your tags will be prized by the lucky recipients. Thanks for sharing.

  9. שוקולד יקרה, תגיות נהדרות. יפהפיות אחת אחת! פחות אוהבת את הנוצות שמחוברות אליהן....כן אני יודעת שזה לא ממש נוצות...
    יופי של תגיות :)

  17. Wonderful art. ANd how cool that you are fluent in seven languages. I would have love to be that, can only list five, with good measure. But languages interest me as does paper art. SO what a great combo. And there you are in the Holy Land, and here I am in the land of the Northern Lights and Midnight Sun, aka Norway. Lovely to 'meet' you,

  22. Hi,
you just became my inspiration! A little hello from the Netherlands.
Never thought of it to make a big background first and then cut the labels. I'm always out of labels, but not anymore.
Thanks again and I will sign in.
    Lots of love
